Carrier Oils

Hi everyone,

On this blog we just want to expand on our carrier oils that we use whilst formulating our products, and why we have chosen them. They all have so many benefits and we have chosen to use Certified Organic oils over others that are available on the market.

Jojoba Oil - Certified Organic.

In terms of skincare Jojoba Oil has anti-inflammatory properties which help to tame chaffing and chapping, reduce redness caused by dry skin and may even possibly ease the effects of eczema and rosacea - however studies are still being done on this. The vitamin E and B-complex vitamins that are found in jojoba oil help in skin repair and damage control.

When it comes to hair care jojoba oil helps to moisturize the scalp and some research is currently being done into whether it may be a dandruff remedy. Jojoba is rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish hair, including vitamin C, B vitamins, vitamin E, copper and zinc. Because jojoba oil strengthens hair, researchers think that it may also help in preventing hair loss and promote hair thickness.

Sunflower Oil - Certified Organic.

Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin A and vitamin E which help in promoting skin health as these vitamins act as antioxidants. Those two vitamins help in regenerating damaged skin cells and getting rid of acne causing bacteria. The oil is light and non-greasy and thus it gets absorbed in the skin easily without blocking your pores. Plus, who likes the feeling of a heavy greasy oil on their skin? Definitely not us.

In terms of hair care, sunflower oil's high essential fatty acids, like phospholipids (this acts as a barrier to protect the cells against various environmental damages) and ceramides (these play a role in both water-retention and barrier function), as well as antioxidants and vitamin E make it great for deeply nourishing and soothing dry hair and scalps, it helps to lock in moisture and helps to keep your hair healthy and strong.

Castor Oil - Certified Organic.

Castor oil is great for skin because of its fatty acids that have moisturizing properties, skin health-enhancing abilities and antioxidant properties. Many people rave about its use for decreasing the signs of wrinkles and therefore use it in anti-aging products, however insufficient research has been done to prove this to be true.

Castor oil is so moisturizing because it is rich in ricinoleic acid, which is a monounsaturated fatty acid, and it is naturally free of harmful additives and therefore is suitable for use on the face and body.

Many people think that Castor oil is the answer to hair growth, but many studies have been done to prove this wrong, however castor oil does have the properties required to help protect your hair from things such as sun damage. It increases the gloss and shine of hair, and helps to strengthen the hair shaft, and provides antimicrobial properties to the hair and scalp.
Castor oil has been used for hundreds of years for oil bathing hair, however insufficient research agrees with claims of castor oil promoting hair growth.

Almond Oil Sweet - Certified Organic.

Almond oil helps reduce skin irritation, calm inflammation, rejuvenates skin and can even out skin tone. Almond oil can help protect your skin from the sun - however never go outside right after application! give your skin time to absorb it in - some research says that almond oil may even help in reversing UV damage. Almond oil also provides anti-oxidants that help to hydrate your skin.

When it comes to your hair, almond oil provides much needed hydration to help your hair look healthy and shiny whilst also feeling soft. The essential fatty acids in almond oil not only help by moisturizing the scalp but also the hair strands themselves, thus leading to healthy hair.
