Dry Ingredients
So as much as we wanted to create products that you could look at the ingredient list and understand what is in the product you are about to use, we also want you to be able to understand why that particular ingredient has been chosen.
How does this ingredient benefit you?
What does this ingredient do for your skin or hair?
Why is this ingredient needed?
Because in reality, if a company cant explain to you why the ingredients they are using are needed and how they benefit you, then are they really necessary at all?
Now, we are not scientists or doctors - meaning we can make no claim to these ingredients solving any skin or hair problems you have - and the information we are providing below is sourced from multiple locations on the internet, so you can research it to if you wanted to look further into each of these ingredients, but to make life a little simpler, a snippet of each ingredient is listed below.
First, lets start off with;
Baking Soda - this is used in a few of our products
e.g bath-bombs, bath milks.
Baking soda has a mild exfoliating property and this makes it a wonder ingredient to help ease acne and pimples from your skin. It is safe to be used on the face as well after it has been diluted with water (prior to dilution it can be too rough and abrasive to the faces more sensitive skin).
Some studies say that baking soda helps dry out pimples and its anti-bacterial property helps to prevent further breakouts on your skin.
Baking soda is also good for removing the build up of oils, soaps and other ingredients found in typical hair care products. By stripping away this buildup, baking soda can leave hair squeaky clean, shiny and soft.
Citric Acid - this ingredient can be found in our bath-bombs.
Citric acid may sound scary however it is far from that! Citric acid is packed with antioxidants, it can help balance the pH level in your skin, exfoliate, even out skin tonnes and repair sun damaged skin.
Citric acid is said to also improve the scalps condition, by getting rid of dandruff and increasing the flow of blood - which in turn enhances and mends follicles of the hair necessary for healthy hair growth.
Corn Starch - found in our bath milks.
Corn starch is known to be a soother of irritations of the skin, including sunburn and some skin allergies. Did you know that cornstarch is commonly used as a cheap alternative to baby powder?
Corn starch can soak up all the excess oils in your hair and leave behind a negligible soft film that makes hair appear dry and silky. It effectively soaks up excess sebum ( the oily substance secreted from your sebaceous glands) yet keeps your scalp and hair moisturized.
Cornstarch can make a great scalp defoliator which would also stimulate blood circulation.
Goats Milk Powder - found in our bath milks.
We chose Goats milk powder because it can work for all skin types and it has multiple benefits including boosting moisture levels, repairing the skins carrier, preventing fine lines and wrinkles and reducing acne (as some research studies say).
Overall Goats milk powder tends to leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized, most people find that their skin doesn't react to it, the same way that it may react to a more common allergy milk powder (cows milk), and it is generally used in products for people with sensitive skin.
Goats milk powder is being researched for its ability to repair damaged hair, and to leave hair soft and manageable. Some say it is good for dry scalp and helping get rid of dandruff, as it helps prevent dryness of the scalp.
Epsom Salt - this can be found it our bath-bombs.
Research says that Epsom Salt may help alleviate inflammation and reduce swelling, it may also help to exfoliate dead skin and loosen blackheads.
Epsom salt is sometimes written onto labels as Magnesium Sulfate, and yes that's because it contains magnesium (and sulfur), magnesium is known to be good for relaxing the body's muscles, this is another reason we use it in our bath products.
Epsom salt is said to have the ability to add volume to oily hair types, and add definition to dry hair types. Its magnesium might also nourish and strengthen your hair and scalp.
OVERALL we just want you to know that we are unable to guarantee that the ingredients in our products will have magical effects on you, we follow the words of the scientists and doctors whom have devoted countless hours into researching the benefits of these ingredients, and we are thankful of their hard-work and research, to show us what ingredients are safe to be used on our skin.
As much as these ingredients are supposed to be safe, we always recommend doing a patch test so that you can see how these ingredients will react with your skin in particular, because as we all know, everyone's skin is different.
